FORTIFIED

Certified in all three FORTIFIED classifications

Hurricane, High Wind and Professional, certified by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety. A specification for how the roof is built, not a brand of shingle.

Chapter 01

A roof gives up at the edge, then at the nails

Wind does not lift a roof from the middle. It catches an edge, works under a starter course, and from there it has leverage on everything behind it. Smooth nails let go under repeated load long before the shingle itself fails. That sequence is what FORTIFIED is written against.

There are four changes, and all four are things you cannot see once the roof is finished. A broader drip edge with a fully adhered starter strip, so there is no loose lip for wind to get under. A sealed roof deck, which keeps protecting the house even if the shingles above it are compromised. Ring-shank nails driven in a reinforced pattern instead of smooth nails. And, on the back of those, insurance premium savings.

If your roof shows visible wear or damage, if there are leaks or water damage inside, if the energy bills have climbed because the insulation is no longer doing its job, or if the roof is simply over twenty years old, it is worth asking whether the replacement should be a FORTIFIED one.

All three classifications, certified by IBHS

FORTIFIED has three classifications, and a contractor can hold one without holding the others. Cypress Roofing is certified in all three: Hurricane, High Wind and Professional, certified by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety.

That matters because the classification determines what the roof is being built to withstand, and a homeowner does not usually find out which one their contractor could actually deliver until the specification is being written. Here it is not a limiting factor.

Anything above this line is verifiable. We would rather you check it than take our word for it, and the same goes for Louisiana Contractor License #75979.

Chapter 03

Up to 40% off the premium, and why 2020 is the reason we care

Many insurers will discount the premium on a FORTIFIED roof by up to 40%. That is a genuine number and it is also a careful one: up to, and with many insurers rather than all of them. Your carrier's own schedule decides it, and it is a question worth asking them directly before you choose the specification.

The reason this company takes it seriously is 2020. A hailstorm hit the West Baton Rouge area early that year. Louisiana then went on to record 30 named storms, the most in a season since 1851, including Category 4 Hurricane Laura, the strongest hurricane by wind speed to hit the state in 150 years. Cypress Roofing worked around the clock through it, helping storm-affected homeowners and navigating insurance claims directly on their behalf.

Everything in this company's shape came out of that season, including the certifications on this page. There is more of that story on the about page.
