Patios

Two panel systems, two wind ratings

Aluminium patio covers built by the same metal crew that does the roof work. Freestanding or attached, in five colours, across Ascension Parish and Baton Rouge.

Chapter 01

Flat and W panels, or insulated panels

Flat panels and W panels are thick-gauge aluminium with a baked-on paint finish that will not chip or rust. They can be built freestanding or attached to the house, and they carry a wind rating of 110 mph measured against three-second gusts.

Insulated panels are a different build: three inches of laminated Styrofoam sandwiched between two sheets of aluminium. They block heat rather than simply casting shade, present a flat finished surface underneath with extruded aluminium trim and fascia, hide the electrical wiring for a fan or lighting inside the panel, and clean down with a hose or a pressure washer. Their wind rating is 150 mph.

Both come in ivory, white, sandstone, adobe and bronze.

Which one is actually right for your yard

W panels are the lighter and simpler span, and for a patio that is mostly about shade and rain cover they do the job without over-specifying it. If the cover is going up over a slab you use a few times a month, that is usually where the conversation lands.

Insulated panels buy three things the flat system does not: real heat rejection rather than shade, a finished ceiling you would be happy to look up at with lighting and a fan run inside it, and the higher wind rating. In a Louisiana summer the heat argument is the one that tends to decide it, because a shaded slab under bare aluminium still radiates.

We would rather walk the slab with you and say which one we would put on our own house than sell you the more expensive panel by default. Call (225) 238-6147.

Chapter 03

When people call us about this

Usually one of four reasons. The current patio is showing its age. The outdoor space is there but nobody uses it because there is no shelter. There is no dedicated place to sit or to have people over. Or the work is being done with an eye on what it adds to the house.

Patio replacements and custom new builds in W panel or insulated panel are part of our own scope of work, alongside the roofing and the metal. That is why the crew who build it are the crew who already know how a panel meets a wall and where the water has to go, which on an attached cover is the whole job.

There are finished covers in the gallery, and the office is at 13119 Airline Highway in Gonzales.
